More on stem cells

Here's some more on the relative merits of embryonic stem cells and the "they're going to be discarded anyway" argument.

I'm not so sure that Dr. Prentice is the best source for this argument...

  2. Uh, but he responds to Science in the very interview that I directed you to. Here's more.

I read it. Not convincing. Read the newest link, too.

It seems that these people think that these scientists just have a baby-killing fetish.

If the embryos are going to become MEDICAL WASTE, why not use them for research and see if the claims that have been made materialize?

There just is no telling what some people will get upset over.

    Who's upset? Not me.

Do you think that they just want to kill babies? You seem pretty rational to me. I think these scientists are passionate about the good they may be able to do for living, breathing human beings. Perhaps you don't agree with them, but I can't believe you would think they are nothing but evil baby killers.

Have you read the Science letter? I have. Of the 65 diseases or injuries that Dr. Prentice lists, most of his citations are not for the actual diseases, but for adult stem cell transplants that were used to help alleviate side effects from high-dose chemotherapy.

Regarding the entire issue: I disagree with your point of view. But, you're certainly welcome to have it. You needn't get snarky just because you can't answer my question.
