Be sure to wear flowers in your hair

I gave this to the Reddess who, I believe, used it on Charlie Sykes' show this morning.

The protests last night at the Army recruiting center at UWM cause me despair over the coming generation. In our day (more accurately, the day of our older brothers and sisters), when we wanted to protest a war we did it with style and panache.

We stuck flowers in rifle barrels. We did not "spread what appears to be human waste" on windows.

  1. So it was exploding flowers that the Weatherman used to protest the Vietnam War?

The display put on last night was disgusting, but it can't be attributed to generational change.

Violent protest has a long, storied, and often disturbing history in the US, and that goes for all generations who have called themselves Americans. Thankfully, today, it's a tactic of the fringe and not large organized groups.

  2. I hope you appreciate that there was a bit of tongue lodged in cheek there.

  3. I didn't. My mistake.

By the way, what was the link to? It brought up an error when I clicked on it. If it was referring to splat on the Army recruiting station window, when I drove by today it looked like purple paint from a paintball gun. A crappy thing to do, but at least not literally.

One, the Reddess can hold her own with anyone and has fought pitched battles with Charlie on the air. Two, if you think that those guys don't like to get callers who disagree with them, then you don't understand call-screening on talk radio. People who disagree make entertainment. Entertainment makes ratings. Ratings makes money. Producers look for them.

I think for myself and come up with my own opinions....gasp.

I've noticed in some of your past comments that you do quite well promoting the Dems talking points.
Obviously reading too much HuffPo with its quality discussions.

I generally do not make comments here...this is Rick's thing. So bug off and leave your attacks to people who post here. You know nothing about my opinions.

I have no problem with criticism when it is appropriate. I rarely post comments on Rick's blog and was not at all involved in this discussion. Play nicely Jan and attack away - to those who are giving their comments and opinions.
To do otherwise is usually the action of a coward.

If you think these guys don't like to get callers who disagree with them, listen to Belling. He'll get callers who say they agree with him, and he'll insist they don't because their wording is a little different.
