We're from the state government and we're here to help you ...

pay more for gasoline.

In related news, gas prices are not expected to hit $4/gallon. Perhaps not, but our public servants will do their best.

Of course, it does no good to blame the bureaucrats. It is an uncommonly silly law but no less of one for that.

    But, was this all about what are considered unfair practices in the industry, here using a cut-rate price to undermine the competition? At least wasn't there some reason behind it other than foolishness?

    Are you aware that former Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen is responsible for the minimum mark-up law still being on the books?

    The last Budget that Jensen and Chvala were in charge of, the Budget delivered to the conference committee by Chvala contained language to repeal this evil law.

    Jensen, facing incredible pressure from Assembly Republicans (who were bought and paid for by the gas station owners), asked that the repealer be dropped from the Budget. Chvala extracted a pound of flesh from Jensen for this consession, of course.
