Unrestricted Concealed Carry is a Bad Idea

I support concealed carry but the notion that it ought to be extended without the requirement of a license and training is to carry a sound principle too far. Let's compare, of all things, the recently passed voter ID bill. People have a constitutional right to vote. But that doesn't mean that the state may not place reasonable regulations on the manner in which that right is exercised to protect the rights of others.

To be sure, the restrictions normally placed on concealed carry may be more onerous than simply requiring a photo ID but the state interests justify them. It would be a different matter if the registration and training requirements were used to frustrate concealed carry rights but sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Training is the issue, and that's relatively easy to resolve.

Only problem is the 'training capitalists....' (or opportunists).

Your post is illogical. Nobody is claiming that requiring a concealed carry license is unconstitutional, so your comparison to the voter id law doesn't make sense.

The argument for the so-called "constitutional carry" is that the permits are unnecessary and do nothing to lower crime. The argument against having a training requirement is that most will get trained anyway.

It would be interesting to compare the crime and firearms accident levels in Arizona before and after they had "constitutional carry".

The best idea I've seen is to require training from certified instructors who could provide a training certificate (preferably wallet sized!) upon completion.

I disagree, every rule denies someone's 2nd amendment right.

Who are you to decide who can and who cannot have a concealed weapon? You're substituting your prejudices for those of the gun control lobby.

What part of "shall not infringe" don't you understand?

I'm ok with training requirements (although I would love to see us "train" people to vote properly and make them pass a civics test before being allowed to vote), but I see no purpose to having to pay $50 or $25 every 5 years for a permit. A poll tax is unconstitutional and I see no reason we should have to pay to exercise a constitutional right.
