I have been retained by the plaintiffs in a case filed today captioned Appling v. Doyle. I will not comment on or accept comments regarding the case on this blog. I am representing clients in the case - it is their litigation and not mine - and that affects what I can and cannot say on the matter.

We saw that coming months ago.
Rick, can you pop me an email please?

Congratulations on taking money from one of the biggest flaming hypocrites in Wisconsin -- Julaine Appling. Recall she claimed during the amendment debate that the amendment would NOT block domestic partner protections. Once the voters swallowed that line of shinola, she changed her tune. When you got to bed with slime, you become slime.
Then why even mention it?
I'm glad you mentioned it, read it and fully support it. Hope this doesn't break your policy.
Then why even mention it?
I presume to prevent others from mentioning the case in comment threads and explain why comments might not be published if the case is mentioned.
I can see why anonymous chooses to be....anonymous.
So, George, you don't think that Julaine isn't a flaming hypocrite? In what sense is she consistent?
CORRECTED!

No, Shark mentions it to brag.
And that's surely a Badge of Honor, isn't it -- that a group of low-lifes gave him the opportunity, likely pro bono, to stand up and defend the hate which Julaine Appling and her band of desperados are shoveling?
I am a happily-married (30+ years) heterosexual children with three "straight" children, all with spouses. My marriage is safe and secure -- more so than the Professor's -- no matter what other people do. Do any of you folks really think that the Wisconsin Constitutional amendment will stay on the books even as long as a decade? The times are changing.
Fascinating. Folks who regard themselves as tolerant and nonjudgmental refer to me or my client as slime and low lifes. I am wrong because I am taking money and wrong because I am not. I am told by some anonymous commenter that his or her marriage is more safe and secure than mine. (Good thing that the Reddess, who had surgery on Friday, hasn't seen that one yet.)
This is precisely why I won't comment on the blog (although I will be on Wisconsin Public Radio tomorrow morning at ... 6 am). There are limits on what I can say that presupposes a discussion conducted with civility and respect and that is all too rare in the blogosphere.
Ask the Reddess? Ask the First Wife! You know -- the one you pledged to be loyal to until "death do us part"!
How could you possibly know if I wasn't?
Are you divorced? I rest my case.

Marriage was resolved a long time ago and what you are doing is right.
When you lie down with a skunk, Ricky, you take on the stink of the skunk. That moniker fits Ms. Appling to a "T".
Applauding R.E./Appling/WFC!
Plenty of us behind you and back this action.
Not hiding behind wall of anonymity. I've learned that is the only way that cowards will spew their venom.
This should come as no comfort to you, Little Ricky -- the West Bend "book Nazis" are now supporting you!
